Jeff Simmons

The Ambitious Rancher

Jeff set out to build a herd of one hundred. Today, he leads the largest cattle ranch in Louisiana.

In 1986, Jeff Simmons started with a simple goal: one hundred head of cattle. Growing up on his grandfather’s ranch in Natchez, Mississippi, he inherited more than a trade. He learned the responsibility of carrying forward a rugged, time-honored way of life while building a business capable of modern scale. Fueled by quiet discipline, Jeff knew that in agriculture, you don’t just start a business, you grow it from the soil up.

The defining moment for J&S Cattle came when Jeff refused to let his ambition be capped by the fence line. Through sustainable grazing and meticulous management practices, he expanded from a small herd to the largest cattle ranch in the state of Louisiana. Today, J&S Cattle spans Louisiana with more than 3,000 head, producing all-natural beef while maintaining the integrity of the land it depends on. Jeff’s ambition isn’t just about growth or raising livestock. It’s about stewardship, and providing for a growing region.

At b1BANK, we stand behind ambitious ranchers like Jeff. Our partnership is rooted in deep-seated agriculture lending expertise and a respect for the generational nature of the land. We understand that ranching requires a partner who is as disciplined and forward-thinking as the ranchers themselves. We provide the strategic capital that allows visionaries like Jeff to transition from a local operation to a statewide leader, ensuring the "open range" remains a place of economic opportunity.
